Estheva Menopause Support Clinic

Our clinic operates on an educational approach, helping women identify the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause and guiding them through the care and support they need.

Understanding Menopause and Perimenopause

At estheva Menopause Support Clinic in Stirling, Scotland, we recognise each woman’s unique journey through menopause and the importance of providing a supportive environment to navigate this phase. Menopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life, marking the end of her menstrual cycles. It’s diagnosed after you’ve gone 12 months without a menstrual period and typically occurs in women in their late 40s to early 50s. Menopause can bring about a host of changes and symptoms, affecting every woman differently.

What is Menopause?

Menopause signifies the cessation of ovarian function, leading to the end of monthly menstruation and reproductive capacity. This biological process is a natural part of ageing but can also be induced by specific medical treatments or surgery. The transition to menopause, known as perimenopause, can last several years, during which symptoms gradually begin to appear.

Symptoms of Menopause

The symptoms of menopause vary widely among women, but common experiences include hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and vaginal dryness. These symptoms can significantly impact one’s quality of life, affecting physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Understanding Perimenopause

Perimenopause is the transition phase before menopause, often beginning in a woman’s 40s, but it can start as early as the mid-30s. During this time, the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen, leading to irregular menstrual cycles, among other symptoms. It’s a critical period for awareness and understanding, as the early signs of menopause begin to surface.

Symptoms of Perimenopause

Symptoms during perimenopause can mirror those of menopause and include menstrual irregularity, hot flashes, sleep problems, mood changes, and decreased fertility. These symptoms can be mild or severe and vary in duration and intensity from woman to woman.

Introducing Our Menopause Support Clinic

At estheva Clinic, we’re proud to introduce our new Menopause Support Clinic, spearheaded by our dedicated Nurse practioner Jo. Recognising the challenges many women face during menopause and perimenopause, we’ve established a specialised clinic to address these concerns head-on.

Our Approach

We believe in providing a safe and supportive environment for women to discuss their menopause symptoms freely and without judgment. Our clinic operates on an educational approach, helping women identify the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause and guiding them through the care and support they need.

During your personalised consultation, Nurse Jo will conduct a comprehensive assessment, taking your history and understanding your symptoms to determine if they are hormone-related. Blood testing is available if necessary to rule out any underlying conditions causing your symptoms. A general wellness check is also included as part of our comprehensive care.

Following your assessment, we will provide you with a medical report outlining lifestyle and treatment recommendations. This report equips you with the information needed to seek further help from your GP and secure the treatment you deserve.
